It ended up being a long drive today to end up at the Bowder Stone with lots of other views along the way.
The walk to the Stone was only short but lovely and the rock is certainly impressive with the size and shape. I’ve never seen one like it. Was it off the cliffs or from an ice flow!? It does seem to have been gently placed where it now sits. Very interesting!
A few people were bouldering, on the bolder which made for an unusual sight.
The stairs to the top was an unexpected addition and you can see that thousands of people had been on top by the polished rock up there.
We parked I one of the few places available by the road.
Nice place with a beautiful view. Kind of regretting paying for 2 hour parking as it’s literally a 5 min walk to the Bowder Stone. You can probably spend about 10-15 mins there and get your pictures. Very interesting history about this monument. I’m Glad we got a chance to go there, it won’t take up too much time out of your day if you have a lot of activities booked or other plans.
Great to visit if in the area it’s been well designed with a very stable ladder step. You need to be carful when on the top as you could fall off. Nice location for a picnic.
A nice stroll, 10 minutes to a large rock, then a ladder to the top.
Easy climb and such a random experience.
£5 to park is a rip off. But tourism pays I guess.
Not far from a NT car park, lovely woods. Was raining so top of stone looked especially slippy, great steps to climb up!
It's a big boulder on its side. How it got and how to be on its side, I have no idea. It's great to see and climb it via its steps.
Big stone easy walk takes abt 15 mins from carpark very scenic
Small carpark, short walk and it literally is a boulder
